This course is for anyone who is required to climb ladders and other structures and perform work whilst supporting themselves on their feet, but is in exposed locations and there is a risk of a free fall.
It includes theory modules on legislation, duties and responsibilities of operators, the correct usage, inspection and care requirements for personal protective equipment and Job planning and HIRA aspects.
The practical exercises cover fitting of PPE, use of lanyards and safe climbing techniques and the use of horizontal lifelines and vertical fall arrest systems.
The rescue component aims to equip workers with simple yet effective rescue techniques to extract injured/suspended workers from the ladder or structure to a safe area where they can receive medical attention. The effects of suspension trauma and the reality of the need for a prompt co-worker rescue is covered.
